World No Tobacco Day 2017: Europe United Race Against Tobacco

On 31 May 2017 ENSP and ERS held a successful celebration of World No Tobacco Day in the Press Club Europe, Brussels. This high-level meeting on tobacco control set a strong focus on the WHO World No Tobacco Day Theme 2017: Tobacco – A threat to development. The event launches the Europe United Race Against Tobacco.

The event gathered responsible partners in tobacco control from all European countries with the aim of discussing how European countries join forces to reach the 2030 sustainable development goals in the context of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. We foresee this event as an unprecedented call for unity and involvement of all countries to tackle the tobacco epidemic.

Commissioner of Health and Food Safety, Dr Vytenis Andriukaitis highlighted the importance of further national and international action on decreasing tobacco consumption. See the full video here.
